Where Learning Comes to Life in the Heart of Nature
Nestled just outside Canterbury in beautiful Kent, The Lakes Forest School offers a unique outdoor learning experience designed to spark curiosity and adventure in children of all ages.
We’re not your typical forest school — we’re a private hire facility designed to extend your school’s learning environment. Schools can book a regular half or full day slot for the whole academic year and bring any year group down to enjoy our wild, wonderful world of outdoor activities.
From den building and bug hunting to woodland exploration and fishing by the lakes, every visit is a chance for children to learn through hands-on fun in nature.
Our Activities

Fishing Lessons
Join us for a peaceful fishing adventure where children can enjoy the tranquility of nature while honing their fishing skills. Whether a very young novice or an older angler, this activity offers a chance to relax and learn topics such as casting techniques, rig setups, and handling fish out of the water safely.

Our Legacy
At The Lakes Forest School, we believe that the outdoors is one of the richest classrooms a child can explore. Our secluded site is designed to offer schools a safe, engaging space for real outdoor learning — where students can build resilience, connect with wildlife, and discover new passions beyond the walls of the classroom.
We work with schools across Kent to provide regular, full or half-day forest school sessions, acting as an extension of your curriculum. Once you book your dedicated slot, you’re free to bring any class, any week – whether it’s reception learning about minibeasts or year six getting stuck into a fire-building challenge.
